COMBO'S THE SNACK by Miss Kat Diehl

COMBO’S THE SNACK by Miss Kat Diehl

My lovely and beautiful friend, Kat, has an obsession with snack foods. We recently shared a moment over Daquiri Ice Ice Cream (sorbet?) from Baskin Robbins. I think she was crying while she ate it, she was so overjoyed. Here is another snack food she harkens to euphoria: Combo’s. Read on, Soldiers.

I love snacks, let me just start there. There are staples in our band, The Industry Party, in which myself, Mike Greenberg (aka Mikey Sweet tooth) and Tommy (aka King 7-11) joke about what ridiculous vittles will be included on our tour rider. First on the list? Skimkim S’mores without question. We imagine fresh barrels being delivered at every date.

I personally have been indulging in childhood comfort foods as of late. Buying a box of Fruit Roll-Ups (oddly containing no actual fruit I might add) was definitely a part of this. A frequent obsession for Mike and I is Combo’s.

They are seriously the worlds perfect food. COMBO’s, if you are reading this, we would like you to sponsor our tour! It’s never been done. Picture this: “It’s a Roll filled with Rock!” (You can thank Mike for that slogan…and many others which come out of our band practices). I mean where else could you grab a bag of yum that contains just about half the recommended calorie count for one day? And really, when has anyone ever stopped before the bag was done?

Anyway let’s just continue there. I cannot remember, nor would I want to, a road trip I have ever taken that did not include the food of the gods: Combo’s. My annual trip to Myrtle Beach South Carolina would be no different.

On the first leg of my journey from NY to VA we stopped at a rest stop in Delaware where my entire world ignited into joy. I went in to grab a snacky snack and what did I discover in the “combo’s aisle” ? Holy mother of snacks!!!! A new Combo’s flavor! I nearly squealed at the register. What flavor you might ask? Zesty Salsa Tortilla! And good lord was it Zesty! It was like a perfect tortilla shell stuffed with yummy mashed up salsa flavored Doritos!!! Yum!

I was clearly overjoyed about this discovery, promptly contacting Mike to let him know that Delaware had some yummy goodies we did not have in NY.

Skip to two days later whilst driving the next leg of my journey to SC. Moms and I decide to stop at a rest stop in NC where I again went to the combo’s aisle and what did I find?????? Another brand new flavor of combo’s again!!! Spicy Jalapeno Cheddar Tortilla!!! Oh my goodness. It’s like the further south we drove the closer to heaven we were getting! These combo’s were just as yummy with perfectly executed tortilla shells surrounding the spicy jalapeno goo. Yum yum yum.

Now the latter mentioned flavor is yet to be released north of the Mason Dixon (thus far) but if all goes well in those southern test markets, the band and I will be snacking our way to new heights of enjoyment. Let’s just hope that’s the case.
