FAGAT SURVEY: XSG Dumpling House
This week, Ricardo Gutierrez, Master Masterer from Stadium Red in Harlem, gives us his review of some Brooklyn Chinatown action. If you haven’t visited the BK version of Grand St., you need to make a trip. It really is O.G. I would definitely say it’s more authentic. There is no english anywhere and the folks here are less abrasive and yell at you less. Read on about the new XSG Dumpling House!
XSG Dumpling House
- No Website
- Address: 5301 8th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220
- Notes: The chive and pork fried dumplings are moist and tasty, not chewy or thick at all. They’ve got just enough chive flavor. The shrimp wonton soup has a delicious broth and perfect little thin-skinned wontons. I will be back to try their sesame pancake sandwiches, maybe I won’t even wait till the aftermath of my next drinking binge. The English spoken by the folks behind the counter is extremely basic so you’ll need two hands to order, one hand to point to the item on the menu you’d like (kindly printed with English translations), the other to let them know how many orders you’d like of said item. That said, the service is good and fast.
