DUMPLING SATURDAY
This Saturday, October 24th, come downtown to celebrate the first ever NYC Dumpling Festival from 12-5 at the Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Grand & Chrystie! There will be dumplings from all over the world, not just asian! Gnocchi, Perogies…I keep telling my man that that I make the best “mandoo”, or korean dumplings, anywhere but I have yet to back that up yet. Even though I have complete confidence in them.
When we were kids, a tradition in our family would be a Mandoo Eating contest. One cousin always won but I can assure you, she was throwing them up and coming back for more which is CHEATING. They will be having their own Mandoo Eating contest on Saturday so don’t miss it! Competitive eating is disgusting yet enthralling, so let’s share our confusion at the park!
I also have heard of this chinese movie, “Dumplings”. It’s horror. (You know how I love to include semi-random/related notes to main topics. Well, here you go. This one may turn you off to dumplings, though). Many of you know that when asians do anything, they go all they way out. I can do supernatural type thrillers but gore and blood and axes and shit is not doable for me. There are no axes in this one. It’s about a master dumpling maker who shares her art with women who claim that her tasty morsels are the fountain of youth. Um, but, the cook is an ex-abortion doctor…
Go for it, all you horror freaks!
Warning: the sound when she eats the dumpling…asians go all out.
